Apple Supplier Jabil Mulls India Expansion With Two More Plants
Apple supplier Jabil is planning to expand its manufacturing footprint in India by setting up two additional plants. The company aims to invest $250-$275 million in these new facilities over the next three to four years. Jabil’s existing Indian unit, located in Pune, spans 858,000 square feet and employs over 2,500 workers. This expansion is part of Jabil’s strategy to increase its presence in the iPhone market. The move follows the company’s recent announcement to invest INR 2,000 crore in an electronics manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy, which is expected to create 5,000 jobs. Jabil’s expansion in India aligns with Apple’s broader efforts to diversify its supply chain and reduce dependence on China. The new plants will bolster India’s position as a key manufacturing hub for Apple’s products.
