CBDT Reports Rise in Audit Filings: 34.84 Lakh Reports Submitted for AY 2024-25
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) reported a significant rise in audit filings for the Assessment Year 2024-25, with over 34.84 lakh audit reports submitted on the e-filing portal by the due date. This includes approximately 34.09 lakh Tax Audit Reports (TARs), marking a 4.8% increase compared to the previous year. The CBDT attributed this rise to various outreach initiatives, including targeted emails, SMS messages, webinars, social media campaigns, and detailed messages on the Income Tax portal. The e-filing Helpdesk team also played a crucial role, handling around 1.23 lakh queries from September to October 2024, providing support through phone calls, live chats, WebEx sessions, and co-browsing opportunities. These efforts have significantly improved timely compliance among taxpayers, ensuring a smoother filing process for TARs and other audit forms.
