CBIC notifies 5% GST on Helicopter Passenger Transport on Seat-Share Basis, Regularizes Past Dues

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified a 5% GST rate on helicopter passenger transport services on a seat-share basis, effective October 10, 2024. This notification, No. 07/2024-Central Tax (Rate), also regularizes past GST dues on such services. The reduced GST rate applies to the transportation of passengers with or without baggage by helicopter. The notification amends the earlier GST rate schedule and clarifies that input tax credit on goods used in providing the service should not have been claimed. This measure aims to streamline tax compliance for helicopter transport services.
