Chinese technical expertise to get smoother entry into India's manufacturing landscape
Chinese Technical Expertise to Get Smoother Entry into India’s Manufacturing Landscape: The Indian government is expediting visas for Chinese technicians to support the manufacturing sector, particularly under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. This initiative aims to address delays in visa processing that have hindered the installation, repair, and training processes in Indian manufacturing firms. The Ministry of Home Affairs has reduced visa processing times and launched a new portal to streamline business visa applications. The PLI scheme, covering 14 sectors including telecommunications, textiles, and pharmaceuticals, has seen investments worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore in plant and machinery. Despite low disbursements so far, the government expects these to increase, improving cash flow and fund utilization for PLI beneficiaries. This move is expected to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of Indian manufacturing firms by ensuring timely access to necessary technical expertise.
