Delhi Excise Policy: Supreme Court grants bail to Amandeep Dhall in CBI case: The Supreme Court granted bail to businessman Amandeep Dhall in the CBI case related to alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy of 2021-22. Dhall, the Managing Director of Brindco Sales Private Limited, had been in jail for 557 days. The Court clarified that it has not commented on the merits of the case, and bail is contingent on terms set by the trial court and Dhall’s cooperation during the trial. Dhall had already received bail from the Delhi High Court in the related money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The CBI had arrested Dhall on April 18, 2023, alleging his involvement in the formulation of the Delhi liquor policy and arranging meetings between co-accused Vijay Nair and various officials. The Supreme Court’s decision follows its recent grant of bail to Aam Aadmi Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in connection with the same case.
