Delhi High Court rejects EV company Okinawa Autotech's plea against show cause notice
The Delhi High Court declined to interfere with a show cause notice issued against Okinawa Autotech, an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, by the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. The notice proposed blacklisting the company for allegedly violating the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India, Phase II (FAME-II) scheme guidelines. The court noted that it has limited powers to interfere with show cause notices unless they are issued without jurisdiction or involve an abuse of law. Okinawa’s plea claimed bias and a predetermined intent to blacklist, but the court found no merit in these arguments. The court advised Okinawa to raise its contentions before the authority while responding to the show cause notice, emphasizing that the company could still present its case during the administrative process.
