General Catalyst Raises $8 Bn To Back Startups Across The Globe
General Catalyst, a US-based venture capital firm, has raised $8 billion for its Fund XII to support startups globally. The fund includes $4.5 billion for core VC funds focused on seed and growth equity investments, $1.5 billion for its “creation” strategy to help proven founders build new companies, and $2 billion for separately managed accounts. The firm aims to invest in early-stage startups across sectors such as AI, defense, climate, energy, industrials, healthcare, and fintech. General Catalyst has a history of backing major tech companies like Airbnb, Instacart, and Stripe. The new funds will also support its global expansion efforts, including recent mergers with local entities in Europe and India. The firm now manages over $30 billion in assets and plans to allocate 25% of the new funds to European startups, emphasizing early-stage investments.
