Govt Working On Voluntary Codes Of Conduct For AI Companies
The Indian government is working on voluntary codes of conduct for AI companies, focusing on ethics and responsible AI usage. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is developing guidelines to set standards for AI training, deployment, and commercial use. These voluntary codes aim to ensure that AI companies adhere to ethical practices and mitigate risks associated with AI technologies. The guidelines will serve as informal directive principles for companies creating large language models (LLMs) and using data for AI and machine learning. The initiative reflects the government’s proactive approach to regulating AI and promoting safe and responsible AI development. The voluntary codes are expected to be released early next year.
