Kerala High Court Quashes FIR In Pantheerankavu Domestic Violence Case After Settlement Between Parties
The Kerala High Court quashed the FIR in the Pantheerankavu domestic violence case after the complainant, the wife, settled the matter with her husband. Justice A. Badharudeen granted the petition moved by Rahul P. Gopal and his family, noting that the couple was now residing together. The wife had accused her husband and in-laws of physical assault and attempt to murder by strangulation. Despite the police opposing the quashing petition, claiming the woman was seriously injured, the court found no justification to continue the litigation as the complainant conceded the settlement. The court had sent the couple for counseling through the Kerala Legal Service Authority, which recommended counseling for the parents of the spouses. However, the court found this unnecessary and allowed the quashing petition, emphasizing the importance of resolving matrimonial disputes amicably.
