Madras High Court Dismisses Plea Challenging Padma Vibhushan to Jaggi Vasudev
The Madras High Court has dismissed a plea challenging the conferment of the Padma Vibhushan award to Jaggi Vasudev, popularly known as Sadhguru. The petitioner contended that the award was undeserving and questioned the process behind the selection. However, the court found no merit in the arguments presented and upheld the decision of the award committee. The ruling reaffirmed that the conferment of national honors like the Padma awards is a matter of the President's discretion, based on the recommendations of the committee, and should not be subject to judicial interference unless there is evidence of procedural impropriety or malfeasance.
