New Stricter Aadhaar Name Correction Rule: Gazette Notification made Mandatory by UIDAI
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced stricter rules for name corrections on Aadhaar cards, mandating a Gazette Notification for any name changes. This measure is aimed at combating fraud. Along with the Gazette Notification, a second form of ID, such as a PAN card, voter ID, or passport, must be submitted. The process involves visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or enrolment center, filling out the update form, and paying a fee of Rs. 50. This change adds an extra layer of verification to ensure the authenticity of name changes. The UIDAI has simplified other update processes, such as address changes, but name updates must be done offline. The new rule is part of broader efforts to enhance the security and integrity of Aadhaar data.
