PSU officers knock PM’s door against EPFO’s way of calculating higher PF pension
Officers from several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the Employees Provident Fund Organisation’s (EPFO) method of calculating higher PF pensions on a pro-rata basis. They argue that this method contradicts the Supreme Court’s November 2022 order, which mandates higher pensions based on total contributions. The National Confederation of Officers’ Associations (NCOA) claims that EPFO’s approach disadvantages post-2014 retirees and serving employees. The officers have requested the government to ensure the correct calculation method as per the Supreme Court’s order and expedite the processing of joint option applications. They also demand compensation for delays in pension disbursement, citing financial distress among retirees and employees due to inconsistent directives.
