Swiggy To Transfer Ownership Of Digital-First Food Brands To Kouzina
Food delivery major Swiggy is restructuring its cloud kitchen operations by transferring ownership of its eight digital-first food brands to subsidiary Kouzina. This strategic move allows Swiggy to focus on its core marketplace business while maintaining an interest in the private brands through a licensing agreement. The transferred brands, which contribute approximately 15% of Swiggy's food delivery GMV, will now operate as independent entities under Kouzina's management. Industry analysts view this as Swiggy's effort to streamline operations ahead of its anticipated IPO, potentially reducing regulatory scrutiny of its vertical integration. The restructuring also enables Swiggy to mitigate risks associated with operating capital-intensive cloud kitchens while retaining access to popular food brands on its platform. Kouzina plans to expand these brands through franchise models and offline outlets.
