Two individuals impersonating as Income Tax and GST officers were arrested for deceiving a jeweler of Rs 40 lakh. The fraudsters posed as government officials and convinced the victim to pay a hefty amount under the pretext of tax dues, coercing him to transfer the money via multiple channels. The accused used fake documents and other means to convince the jeweler about the alleged tax liabilities. Following an investigation by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police, the culprits were apprehended. The police recovered substantial evidence linking the suspects to fraudulent activities and are working to track down additional individuals involved in the scam. The case underscores the increasing concerns over impersonation frauds involving tax authorities.
