UPI Transactions See Marginal Dip To 17.89 Bn In April
UPI transactions recorded a slight decline to 17.89 billion in April 2024 from March's 18.07 billion, marking the first monthly drop in 2024. The dip is attributed to seasonal factors and reduced cashback incentives by payment apps. However, transaction value grew marginally to ₹32.3 trillion, indicating higher average ticket sizes. NPCI data shows UPI's growth stabilizing after years of exponential expansion, with focus now shifting to rural penetration and cross-border payments. Industry experts view this as normal market consolidation rather than a concerning trend.
