Service overview

A full-service CFO engagement for businesses that need ongoing financial oversight without necessarily building a large in-house finance team.

The engagement is meant to turn financial information into decisions owners can act on. The scope should fit the existing accounts team and the frequency of reporting management can maintain.

Who needs it? / When is it needed?

Growing businesses, companies with weak financial controls, businesses preparing to raise funds, or promoters who need regular financial visibility.

It is particularly useful when management is making hiring, pricing, borrowing or expansion decisions and needs to understand their effect on cash and margins before committing.

What to expect from the WCP Professionals

The professional would understand the business model, review existing books and reporting, set up management reports, build budgets and cash-flow forecasts, identify financial leakages and work with the existing accounts team, auditor, banker or tax adviser.

How the work would proceed:

  • The work would normally start with a review of the trial balance, monthly accounts, bank position, borrowing and existing management reports
  • The professional would agree which numbers management needs each month, build a budget and rolling cash-flow view, and compare actual performance against that plan
  • Material variances should be discussed with the people responsible for them, with actions recorded for follow-up
  • Any audit opinion, tax certification or regulated sign-off remains a separate role

Key deliverables

Budget, cash-flow forecast, MIS, management dashboard, variance analysis, control recommendations and periodic management reporting.

Reports should show the underlying assumptions and highlight items that need management attention, rather than presenting numbers without explanation. Responsibility for bookkeeping and statutory sign-off should be identified separately.

Standard turnaround time

Initial review: 5-10 working days. Ongoing CFO support is normally delivered on a monthly or quarterly cycle.

The first cycle may take longer while records are cleaned up and reporting definitions are agreed. Later cycles become more predictable once the source data and monthly close process are settled.

Government fees, timelines & key outcomes

  • There is no government fee for CFO advisory itself
  • Statutory audit, tax filing and regulatory fees are separate
  • The outcome is a functioning financial-management system and clearer management reporting

The engagement fee depends on reporting frequency, number of entities, transaction volume and the extent of hands-on support. Audit, tax return, certification and specialist advisory costs should be quoted separately.

Forms & filings involved

No fixed form is inherent to the service. Statutory filings are handled separately where specifically included in the engagement.

CFO support does not itself create a prescribed government form. Any tax, company-law or regulatory filing should be listed separately in the engagement and prepared against the applicable current requirements.

Documents required

Financial statements, trial balance, bank statements, budgets, loan documents, MIS, tax records, major contracts and existing accounting policies.

Where records do not reconcile, the professional should flag the difference and ask for an explanation instead of silently adjusting the figures. Source records are more useful than screenshots of summary dashboards alone.

What we need from you

Access to financial data, clarity on business goals, details of existing finance personnel and timely explanations for unusual transactions or variances.

A named person should be available to answer questions from accounts and operations. Management will also need to approve budgets, assumptions and policy changes; those business decisions cannot be made by the adviser alone.

Important conditions

CFO advisory does not replace statutory audit, tax certification or other regulated professional functions unless performed by the appropriately qualified professional.

The usefulness of the reports depends on the accuracy and timeliness of the underlying books. Forecasts are planning tools, not guarantees of revenue, funding or profitability.

Additional information

The engagement can be structured as a one-time financial clean-up, monthly CFO support or a continuing outsourced finance function.

The arrangement can begin with a financial-health review and expand into monthly reporting, cash planning and coordination with auditors or tax advisers if needed.

The estimated cost covers indicative professional fees only. Government fees, stamp duty and taxes are payable at actuals.

How it works

  1. 1. Raise a service enquiry describing your requirement.
  2. 2. A Relationship Manager reviews it and opens it for bidding.
  3. 3. Pay into escrow and assign the professional you select.
  4. 4. Track progress to completion, then accept and release payment.

Frequently asked questions

What is an end-to-end CFO service?

An outsourced finance function led by a senior professional, covering planning, reporting, controls, compliance coordination and management support.

How is it different from a virtual CFO?

A virtual CFO advises part-time; an end-to-end service takes responsibility for running the finance function with the team.

Can it start with a clean-up of the books?

Yes. Many engagements begin with a one-time financial clean-up before monthly reporting starts.

Who remains responsible for financial statements?

The board and management; the CFO service supports and coordinates, and audits remain independent.
