Property & Inheritance Services Services
Property and inheritance documents — wills, gift deeds, relinquishment deeds, powers of attorney and succession documentation drafted by verified advocates.
Property & Inheritance Services make sure property passes to the right people with documents that hold up — whether during a lifetime by gift, relinquishment or power of attorney, or after death by will, succession certificate or legal heir documentation.
WCP's verified advocates draft the documents, advise on stamp duty and registration in the State concerned, and handle mutation and transfer of the property afterwards.
What is covered:
- Will drafting and registration
- Gift deeds
- Relinquishment (release) deeds
- Powers of attorney
- Succession documentation — succession certificates, probate, letters of administration and transfers
Well-drafted documents prevent most family property disputes; poorly drafted or unregistered ones often cause them.

Frequently asked questions
- Is it compulsory to register a will?
- No. Registration is optional under the Registration Act, 1908, but it makes the will harder to challenge.
- What is the difference between a gift deed and a relinquishment deed?
- A gift deed transfers your own property to anyone; a relinquishment deed is used by a co-owner or legal heir to give up their share in favour of other co-owners.
- Do gift deeds attract stamp duty?
- Yes, at State rates; many States charge concessional duty for gifts to close family members.
- When is a succession certificate needed?
- To collect debts and securities, such as bank deposits and shares, of a person who died without a will, where institutions ask for it.
- Can a power of attorney be used to sell property?
- A power of attorney can authorise execution of a sale deed, but title passes only through a registered sale deed, not the power of attorney itself.
- What is probate?
- A court's certification of a will, mandatory in some cities and for certain communities, and useful elsewhere where the will may be disputed.
