Amit Shah makes big promise on Uniform Civil Code, One Nation, One Election

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented nationwide within five years if the Modi government returns to power, following stakeholder consultations. \r

Shah emphasized the UCC's constitutional basis, citing historical legal scholars who advocated for it. He mentioned Uttarakhand's recent UCC implementation, stressing the need for social and legal scrutiny and extensive debate before a national law is enacted. \r

Shah also confirmed plans for 'One Nation, One Election,' with simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections, stating that the Ram Nath Kovind committee's report has been submitted and the resolution will be pursued within the next five years.
