Andhra Pradesh High Court Directs CID & ACB to Investigate Theft of Offerings at Tirumala Temple
The Andhra Pradesh High Court directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to probe allegations of theft from the Parakamani (cash counting center) at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams temple. The order came after petitions alleged large-scale misappropriation of offerings and lack of transparency in temple fund management. The court observed that Tirumala temple, being a public religious institution, is under state oversight and its funds are public in nature. The bench emphasized the need for accountability and directed the CID and ACB to coordinate, ensuring a comprehensive inquiry to trace financial irregularities, identify the individuals involved, and submit periodic reports to the court.
