Anti-Dumping Investigation Launched into EU-Origin Para Nitrotoluene Imports
The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into the import of 'Para-Nitrotoluene' originating from the European Union. This chemical is a key intermediate used in the manufacturing of various products, including dyes, pigments, and optical brightening agents. The investigation was launched based on an application filed by the domestic industry, which alleged that the chemical is being dumped into the Indian market at prices below its normal value. This dumping is allegedly causing material injury to the domestic producers, affecting their profitability, market share, and overall health. The DGTR will now conduct a detailed probe to determine the extent of dumping, the injury caused, and whether there is a causal link between the two. If the investigation confirms these allegations, the government may impose an anti-dumping duty to protect the domestic industry from unfair trade practices.
