Boeing said to be in talks to settle DoJ charges over 737 Max safety issues
Boeing is in talks with the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve potential charges related to two fatal 737 Max crashes, Bloomberg News reported. An announcement may come next week, with a settlement possibly including a corporate monitor. \r
This follows a 2021 deferred-prosecution agreement where Boeing avoided a criminal charge over conspiracy to commit fraud related to the 2018 and 2019 crashes, agreeing to pay a $2.5 billion fine, improve compliance, and submit regular reports. Prosecutors recently recommended that Boeing face charges for allegedly violating this deal.
