SC issues notice in Byju's insolvency case - The Supreme Court has admitted appeals filed by the promoters of Byju's, challenging a National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) Chennai order that denied the withdrawal of insolvency proceedings against the edtech giant. The case stems from a dispute with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over a ₹158 crore settlement. Despite the promoters claiming a full settlement was reached before the Committee of Creditors (CoC) was formed, the NCLAT ruled against withdrawal. The Supreme Court has issued notices to GLAS Trust (trustee for lenders) and the Interim Resolution Professional (IRP), and will consider interim relief in a subsequent hearing, escalating Byju's complex legal battles.
