CBDT Mandates Electronic Filing of Appendix-II Forms under Income Tax Rules 1962

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued Notification No. 01/2024-25 on June 24, 2024, requiring the electronic submission of specified forms listed in Appendix-II of the Income Tax Rules, 1962. This mandate, under sub-rules (1) and (2) of Rule 131, aims to streamline filing processes and enhance compliance. Forms affected include those for affordable housing project notifications, semiconductor wafer fabrication units, pre-filing meetings, safe harbour applications, and approvals for public company issues and mutual funds. Effective June 27, 2024, these forms must be electronically furnished and verified as per the specified rules.
