CBIC Issues Instruction to Simplify Leather Exports by Removing Testing and Port Limits
In a move to facilitate trade, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued instructions to simplify the export procedures for the leather industry. The new instructions aim to reduce the compliance burden by removing the requirement for mandatory testing of certain types of leather products and by removing the restrictions on the ports from which they can be exported. These changes are expected to significantly reduce the transaction time and cost for leather exporters. By streamlining the procedures and doing away with unnecessary controls, the CBIC is improving the ease of doing business for this key export-oriented sector. This will enhance the competitiveness of Indian leather products in the global market and will provide a boost to the industry.
