Central Govt imposes ADD on Potassium Tertiary Butoxide and Sodium Tertiary Butoxide Imports
The Central Government has imposed an anti-dumping duty on the import of two chemicals, Potassium Tertiary Butoxide and Sodium Tertiary Butoxide. These chemicals are likely used in various industries, such as pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals. The decision to impose the duty follows an investigation by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR). The investigation would have found that these chemicals were being exported to India from certain countries at prices below their normal value, which was causing or threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry. The anti-dumping duty is a trade protection measure aimed at leveling the playing field. It makes the imported products more expensive, thereby protecting the domestic manufacturers from the adverse effects of unfair pricing by foreign exporters and ensuring their long-term viability.
