The Ministry of Labour & Employment plans to conduct training workshops for state government labour officials to familiarize them with the new labour codes, aiming to address gaps in understanding and variations in state-level rules compared to central laws. \r
These workshops, scheduled in the coming months, aim to ensure uniform implementation of the codes nationwide and mitigate potential legal discrepancies. They build on previous consensus-building efforts among state labour ministers and ongoing discussions between states and the central government. \r
Chaired by Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra, a meeting with state labour secretaries and commissioners is set to review draft state rules, seeking to streamline operations and enhance clarity. \r
The move underscores the government’s renewed focus on labour reforms to bolster business ease and attract investments, consolidating 29 laws into four comprehensive labour codes for streamlined governance and universal social security coverage.
