CENVAT Credit can be avail against Duty paid on Reinsurance of Motor vehicles: CESTAT rules in favour of HDFC

Ltd., allowing them to avail CENVAT credit for the duty paid on reinsurance of motor vehicles. This decision pertains to the period from April 2011 to March 2012, recognizing the credit against the general insurance services provided by the company. The Tribunal emphasized that the reinsurance service is integral to the insurance business, thereby making the credit valid.
