CESTAT grants CENVAT credit to Rambagh Palace Hotel - The Customs, Excise, and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) has allowed 100% CENVAT credit to Rambagh Palace Hotel (operated by IHCL - Indian Hotels Company Limited) on management consultancy services. The tribunal reclassified the services provided by IHCL for the hotel's operation and management as "Management or Business Consultancy" services, eligible for full input tax credits under Rule 6(5) of the Cenvat Credit Rules, 2004, overturning the department's classification as "Business Auxiliary Services" or "Business Support Services" and providing significant relief to the hotel.
