CIC can't comment on utilisation of MPLADS funds by MPs: Delhi HC
The Delhi High Court ruled that the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) lacks jurisdiction to comment on the utilization of MPLADS funds by Members of Parliament (MPs) as the Right To Information (RTI) Act is confined to providing access to information under public authorities' control. \r
While expunging certain remarks by the CIC on MPs' fund usage, the court upheld the directive for disclosing MP-wise, constituency-wise, and work-wise fund details. The CIC had suggested preventing the accumulation of MPLADS funds by MPs to gain election advantages.\r
The court's decision followed a challenge by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation against the CIC's order, arguing that it overstepped its jurisdiction.
