CIC Can't Comment Upon Utilization Of Funds By MPs Under MPLADS: Delhi High Court Expunges Observations
The Delhi High Court ruled that the Central Information Commission (CIC) lacks jurisdiction to comment on the utilization of funds by Members of Parliament under the MPLADS. Justice Subramonium Prasad expunged such observations made by the CIC in response to an RTI application filed by Ram Gopal Dixit. \r
The court emphasized that the RTI Act's scope is limited to ensuring access to information held by public authorities. The ruling came after the Central Government, through the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, challenged two CIC orders. \r
However, the court upheld the CIC's directive for public authorities to publish detailed MPLADS fund utilization information.
