CIL forms new subsidiary alongwith RVUNL for developing RE projects in Rajasthan
In a strategic move to expand its presence in the renewable energy sector, the state-owned enterprise Coal India Ltd (CIL) has formed a new joint venture subsidiary. This new entity has been created in partnership with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL), the power generation company of Rajasthan. The primary objective of this new subsidiary is to develop large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar parks, within the state of Rajasthan. This initiative is part of CIL's broader diversification strategy to reduce its dependence on coal and align with India's national goal of increasing its renewable energy capacity. By partnering with a state entity, CIL gains access to land and local expertise, facilitating the smoother execution of these green energy projects. This venture marks a significant step for the coal behemoth in its transition towards a more sustainable energy portfolio.
