Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was sent to CBI custody for three days in the excise policy case. Judge Amitabh Rawat of the Rouse Avenue Court issued the order after the CBI's request, following Kejriwal's formal arrest. Kejriwal, who maintains his and AAP leaders' innocence, rebutted the CBI’s claims that he blamed Manish Sisodia. The court agreed that Kejriwal did not implicate Sisodia. Kejriwal was initially arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in connection to a money laundering case involving the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The ED alleged that AAP used kickbacks from the scam to fund elections. After interim bail, Kejriwal returned to jail on June 2. During the remand hearing, the CBI emphasized the need for Kejriwal's custodial interrogation, while his counsel argued against the necessity and timing of the arrest, suggesting it was an abuse of power.
