The Delhi High Court has found Uday Pal Singh guilty of criminal contempt after he posted a video on social media alleging that the judges of the court were involved in "illegal acts" and favoring the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in their orders. Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Manoj Jain watched the video and determined that Singh's actions clearly undermined the dignity of the court and the justice delivery system. The contempt petition was filed by Sudha Prasad, who had ongoing legal disputes with Singh over a property in New Ashok Nagar. \r
Singh's video, posted on Facebook and Twitter, accused the court of favoring the DDA and making illegal decisions. Despite Singh's subsequent unconditional apology and claims that his intention was not to defame the court or its judges, the court rejected his submissions. Singh has been ordered to remain physically present for his sentencing on July 19. Advocate Gagan Gandhi represented petitioner Sudha Prasad, while Singh was represented by advocates Kunal Khanna and Sonia Dhariwal.
