DGFT Enlists Ayush Export Promotion Council as Agency to Issue Non-Preferential Certificate of Origin
In a move to streamline export procedures and bolster India's traditional medicine industry in global markets, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has officially recognized the AYUSH Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL) as an authorized agency. This authorization grants AYUSHEXCIL the power to issue non-preferential Certificates of Origin (CoO) for AYUSH products, encompassing Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homoeopathy, and Sowa Rigpa. This development simplifies documentation and approval processes for AYUSH exporters, reducing their reliance on general trade bodies. By empowering a dedicated sectoral body, the DGFT aims to enhance ease of doing business, build sector-specific trust, and improve turnaround times for documentation, further supporting India's goal of becoming a global hub for AYUSH-based goods and services.
