Even If Suo Motu Revision Of Corruption Cases Are Ultimately Dropped, Message Should Go Out That No One Should Take Courts For Granted: Madras HC
Justice Anand Venkatesh of the Madras High Court emphasized that even if the suo motu revisions against Ministers' discharge/acquittal in corruption cases are dropped, it should send a message against undermining the courts. He asserted the importance of not micromanaging trial courts to maintain their purpose. \r
The judge clarified that his intention was to ensure all relevant facts were considered in the discharge orders, without a predetermined pattern. Attorney General PS Raman supported further investigation if overlooked materials surfaced. The court had taken cognizance against the discharge/acquittal of O Panneerselvam, Thangam Thenarasu, and KKSSR Ramachandran in a corruption case. \r
The Ministers defended their discharge, citing political differences and biased investigations.
