FDA Suspends Zepto’s Dharavi Warehouse Licence For Food Safety Violations
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the license of Zepto's Dharavi warehouse in Mumbai due to serious food safety violations. Inspections revealed critical lapses, including fungal growth on food articles, storage near clogged water, improper cold storage temperatures, wet and filthy floors, and unsanitary storage of food items, including direct floor placement. Expired products were also found not segregated. Zepto has initiated an internal review and pledged full cooperation with authorities to rectify the issues and ensure compliance. This action highlights the regulatory focus on hygiene and safety in quick commerce operations.
