The Tamil Nadu Food Grains Merchants Association has urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to address grievances related to Goods and Services Tax (GST). \r
President S. V. S. S. Velshankar highlighted that promises made during GST's introduction, including potential tax reductions upon revenue reaching one lakh crore, have not materialized despite current revenues exceeding 1.75 lakh crores. The association cited increased tax evasion due to irregular tax policies, impacting honest assesses and causing significant revenue loss. \r
They proposed the formation of a committee comprising ministers and officials to resolve GST issues, advocating for Tamil Nadu's representation. Additionally, they emphasized the need for relief from taxes, penalties, and interest incurred since GST's inception in 2017.
