The Delhi High Court disposed of a writ petition filed by a Constable (GD) aspirant who had been rejected as overweight during the recruitment process. During the hearing, the Union of India stated that it was willing to conduct a fresh assessment of the petitioner’s weight and BMI. Accepting this, the Court directed a fresh medical examination to be conducted on 3 December 2025 at the CRPF Group Centre, Rampur. The petitioner undertook to accept the outcome of the reassessment, and the writ petition was accordingly disposed of.
• The petitioner, Ritik Nagar, applied for recruitment to the post of Constable (GD) but was declared overweight during medical evaluation.
• He approached the Delhi High Court challenging this assessment.
• During the proceedings, the Union of India (through the learned SPC) stated on instructions that the authorities were willing to reassess the petitioner’s weight and BMI.
• Counsel for the petitioner confirmed that this would address the petitioner’s grievance.
• The Union of India voluntarily agreed to conduct a fresh BMI and weight assessment, making adjudication on merits unnecessary.
• The petitioner, through counsel, accepted this proposal and stated that the grievance stood redressed.
• Given the consent of both parties, the Court held that no further judicial determination was required.
• The petitioner’s weight and BMI shall be reassessed on 3 December 2025 at 11 AM at Group Centre, CRPF, Rampur.
• The petitioner, through counsel, undertook to be bound by the result of the fresh assessment, irrespective of whether it is favourable or unfavourable.
• The writ petition was disposed of in view of the statements made by the parties.
• Recruitment Medical Standards for Constable (GD)
• Judicial review under Article 226 (implied, as the writ is under High Court’s jurisdiction)
• Administrative fairness in recruitment medical evaluations
