Future Generali India Insurance aims for specially-abled persons (PwD) to make up nearly 1% of its workforce of around 4,000 employees by December 2024. Currently, PwD represent about 0.6-0.7% of the workforce, with 27 employees as of December 2023, up from seven at the end of 2022. Anup Rau, MD & CEO, highlighted efforts to increase this number to around 40 by year-end. Census 2011 data shows PwD make up 2.21% of India’s population, with only 36% employed, and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 mandates 4% job reservation in the public sector. The company is also supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and revising hiring policies to address biases.
