Government adds Vizhinjam International Seaport for Import and Export Operations of Goods under Customs [Read Notification]
The Central Government, via notification no. 42/2024-CUSTOMS (N.T.) dated 12th June 2024, has designated Vizhinjam International Seaport for import and export operations under Customs. The amendment to the 1994 notification allows the unloading and loading of goods at this seaport, located in Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala. Vizhinjam International Seaport is a deepwater multipurpose port aimed at container transhipment and handling diverse cargo. Developed under a landlord model with a Public Private Partnership (PPP) component, the project follows the design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) framework. Construction began on 5th December 2015 by Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited.
