Govt Initiates Anti-Dumping Investigation on TPU-Based Paint Protection Film from China
The Indian government has launched an anti-dumping investigation into the import of "TPU based Paint Protection Film" from China. This product is a thermoplastic polyurethane film applied to vehicles to protect the paint from scratches and damage. The probe was initiated by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) following a complaint from the domestic industry. The domestic manufacturers have alleged that the film is being exported from China to India at unfairly low prices, a practice known as dumping. This is claimed to be causing material injury to the Indian producers, impacting their sales and financial viability. The DGTR will now conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the extent of dumping and the injury caused. If the findings are positive, the government may impose an anti-dumping duty on the imports to ensure a level playing field for the domestic industry.
