Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj on Friday suggested the government review the 28% GST on clean fuel vehicles, arguing that lower GST rates in Latin America and ASEAN countries reflect better affordability for their citizens compared to India. At the launch of the Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG-run motorcycle, Bajaj criticized “unsustainable subsidies” for electric vehicles. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted India's rising status in the global auto industry and urged Bajaj to explore ethanol tanks for future models. The Freedom 125 offers 50% cost savings on fuel and plans to expand production and exports.
