GST collection reaches Rs 2 lakh Crore Milestone due to Economic Momentum and Efficient Tax Realisation: Finance Minister
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attributed the milestone of Rs 2 lakh crore in GST collections to economic momentum and efficient tax realization. Rolled out on July 1, 2017, GST has 1.45 crore registered taxpayers.\r
Sitharaman lauded the collaborative efforts of central and state revenue officers and the CBIC. She noted the absence of pending IGST dues to states. April 2024 saw a record-high GST collection of Rs 2.10 lakh crore, marking a 12.4% increase from the previous year, fueled by domestic transactions and imports. \r
Out of the IGST collection, Rs 50,307 crore went to CGST and Rs 41,600 crore to SGST, totaling Rs 94,153 crore and Rs 95,138 crore, respectively, after settlement.
