GSTN clarifies Biometric-Based Aadhaar Authentication for GST Registration

The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has issued an advisory on implementing biometric-based Aadhaar authentication for GST registration. This pilot project, set to start in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Puducherry, aims to enhance security and streamline the registration process. The phased roll-out will help combat fraudulent input tax credit claims and improve overall compliance. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has also amended rules to support this initiative.
