The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released an exposure draft of the 13th Edition of the Code of Ethics and invited public comments. This draft, intended to replace the 12th edition (in force since July 2020), aims to update ethical standards for chartered accountants in line with international practices and emerging professional challenges. It focuses on maintaining auditor independence, integrity, confidentiality, objectivity, and addressing ethical dilemmas in the age of technology and AI. ICAI has sought inputs from members, firms, regulators, and the public to ensure inclusivity in the final document. The initiative reflects ICAI’s commitment to strengthening professional ethics, accountability, and global alignment of auditing standards.
