The Supreme Court addressed the absence of a uniform legal definition of the Aravali Hills, which had caused confusion in enforcement of mining restrictions, environmental protection laws, and construction regulations. The Court directed scientific mapping of the entire range, involvement of geologists, satellite data analysis, and a uniform classification system. It stressed the ecological significance of the Aravalis as natural barriers against desertification and directed strict action against illegal encroachments and mining. The judgment strengthens national environmental governance.
