India and UK Signs Historic Multi-Billion Dollar Free Trade Agreement
India and the UK have signed a "historic multi-billion dollar Free Trade Agreement (FTA)," aiming to enhance bilateral trade to $120 billion by 2030. The agreement, formalized in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and UK PM Keir Starmer, includes significant tariff reductions on various goods. Indian exports like textiles, leather, and marine products will gain duty-free access to the UK, while UK exports such as whisky and automobiles will see substantial duty cuts (up to 10% for cars), making them cheaper in India. The FTA also covers services, innovation, and government procurement, and includes a Double Contribution Convention Agreement (social security agreement) for professionals.
