J&K Will Come Under NHRC; All Other Statutory Commissions Restored There: Union Tells Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has been informed by the Union that Jammu and Kashmir will be brought under the jurisdiction of the NHRC, with all other statutory commissions restored. This move follows the abrogation of Article 370. The submission was made in response to a plea challenging the constitutional validity of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, which made the state a Union Territory. The Court directed the parties to file their responses within two weeks and listed the matter for further hearing after the summer break.
