Jalna District Commission Holds PVK Vehicles Liable For Failure To Register Vehicle As Required Under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Jalna bench found PKV Vehicles liable for deficiency in service and unfair trade practice for failing to register a purchased electric two-wheeler despite repeated requests from the complainant. The commission highlighted that non-registration of the vehicle, as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, deprived the complainant of lawful use. Despite assurances, PKV Vehicles did not submit necessary documents for registration, nor responded to legal notices. In its ruling on June 7th, 2024, the commission ordered PKV Vehicles to refund Rs. 79,845/-, pay Rs. 5,000/- compensation, and cover Rs. 5,000/- litigation costs. The complainant must return the vehicle post-compliance.
