The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh recently stayed a judgment by Justice Rahul Bharti that had directed the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir to pay ₹2 lakh as compensation to Aftab Hussain Dar for his illegal detention under the J&K Public Safety Act. \r
Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh and Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, considering the grounds of detention presented, issued the stay order on June 7 pending further hearings. The case is scheduled for its next hearing on July 9.
